Decanting has always been my ideal method of wine aeration, however I don't always have the time, or honestly the patience for the process. That's what I love most about the DiWINE Aerator, you can aerate the wine in the amount of time it takes to pour a glass! Within seconds of pouring, the DiWINE Aerator is expanding the surface area of my wine (allowing the air to mingle with it). The wine gurgles through the bubbler, and out into my glass, softening the tannins of my wine. After aerating, I absolutely notice new flavors, mellowed alcohol, and more pleasant aroma.
The unit comes with a non-drip stand, and a small bag to store the aerator. The bag is especially a great addition, because I can bring the aerator along in my purse when I visit with friends and other places I know I'll enjoy some wine. The box that the DiWINE Aerator comes is very nice, making it a great gift. It's sturdy, attractive, and the aerator itself is beautiful. This is definitely a great gift for any wine lover in your family or amongst friends! For those unfamiliar with aerating, here is some brief information: What is Aeration? Aeration devices mix air into the wine as it flows through or over a bubbler, increasing exposure to oxygen. Exposing wine to oxygen can improve the taste and aroma. Wine has been kept in a relatively oxygen free environment inside its bottle, so the reintroduction of oxygen can greatly enhance it. Is Aerating necessary? Young red wines are typically high in tannins and might require several hours of decanting to release their full bouquet--which opens up their aromas & flavors. By using an aerator, you can skip the wait time. It’s less common to aerate a white wine, however you can often improve the aromatics of a white wine by aerating it a bit. I did receive this product in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. All opinions are my own
