Today we began our first batch of mini-figure crayons. We used the smallest of the mini-figure molds (blue set) for our crayons. First we spent some time removing wrappers from old crayons in our house. RoseArt and other non-brands peeled off the easiest, but Crayon brand melted better. DIY Mini-Figure Crayon Tutorial Step 1: Preheat oven to 250. Step 2: Peel off crayon wrappers and break crayons into small pieces. Step 3: Place one broken crayon into each mold. Mix & match colors if you want a marbled appearance. Step 4: Place in 250-degree oven for 10 minutes, or until completely melted. Step 5: Take out of oven once each mold is filled with melted wax crayon. Stir with a toothpick if you see any wax separation. Step 6: Let the tray cool on the counter for 10 minutes. Or, to speed up the cooling place in the freezer for 5 minutes, until hardened. Step 7: Carefully stretch the silicone mold away from the edges of the mini-figures. This will help prevent any breakage. Once all the edges are stretched, begin to push up from the bottom to pop out the crayons. Step 8: Marvel at your creations!

Excellent advice from Mr. Rogers for those with kids aware of the attacks in Paris. Our thoughts & prayers are with Paris today.
Our regularly scheduled posts will resume soon. Please #PrayForParis. This Arvazallia boxed hair care set makes for great Christmas and birthday gifts. The box is extremely sturdy, features a magnetic close and include a full sized shampoo (11.6oz), conditioner (11.6oz), and a hair mask (8.45oz). Each product is sealed tightly in plastic to prevent any leakage.
I have color treated hair with blonde highlights and dark blonde lowlights. Because of this, my hair has been damaged over the years. I'm very impressed with how quickly this gift set repaired years of damage. I'm scheduled for a color in a few weeks, but after using this set for weeks my highlights and lowlights are very vibrant so I may have to push back my appointment! My hair also feels lustrous, softer, and healthier. All the products have a silky & rich consistency, and the mask is especially thick. I have naturally curly hair that I straighten and the mask works great as a detangler. After weeks of use and once-a-week hair mask treatment, my hair feels very moisturized. My split ends are less noticeable, and I have received numerous complements about how shines my hair is. I have a high sensitivity to sulfates, so I always avoid products containing them--however, if you're unfamiliar with the negative side of sulfates here are a few reason to go sulfate free: - Continuous use of shampoos that contain sulfates have the potential to cause long-term damage to your hair. This damage can be realized in terms of its appearance, as well in terms of the overall health of the hair itself. - Using shampoos containing sulfates can cause irritation of the eyes, irritation of the scalp, tangled up hair, hair that feels frizzy or fuzzy, or hair that has become split. - In my case, the consequences include swelling of my hands, face, arms, and breakouts on my head. Research also shows that putting chemicals on your skin or scalp may actually be worse than eating them. When you eat something, the enzymes in your saliva and stomach help to break it down and flush it out of your body. However, when you put substances on your skin, they may be absorbed directly into your bloodstream without being modified by the digestion process. This Arvazallia set not only avoids any harmful chemicals, it also adds the moisturizing benefits of Argan & Macadamia Oil, and Aloe Vera, which work great together to leave your hair softer and healthier. I did receive this product in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. All opinions are my own. Plans are underway for a very lucky boy who is turning five years old! How that happened, I don't know. Last I remember I was holding my precious newborn in my arms and then all I did was blink and now he's five! Since I love to research I figured why not share all the ideas I find for LEGO/Brick Building birthday themed party! We are going to start with some fun DIY projects. We are going to make some candy or chocolate bricks to go on top of our cupcakes, a large mini-figure soap favor, and some mini-figure crayons to go with some coloring books. In order to make theses, we needed molds to recreate the classic LEGO style brick and mini-figure look. Lucky for us, e3X was very generous and sent us five silicone molds to try out. For this first part, we tried to make chocolate building bricks and some ice cube mini-figures. Using the red brick mold, we melted CandiQuik to form chocolate building bricks. We used three cubes to fill the full red tray. Although the CanidQuik was easy to use, I'm going to look into other options, like Wilton's candy and chocolate melts, since it took almost 1/2 the CandiQuik package to fill one tray of six blocks. The blocks are rather deep, so we might opt to use the brick molds for crayons or soap because it's a lot of chocolate to consume in the largest bricks. Trust me, I'm not complaining--but I don't want to hear about it from parents with kids loaded up on chocolate building bricks! If I try to make chocolate bricks again I will try using a piping bag to ensure I get chocolate filled into all the bumps on the bricks prior to filling the rest of the brick. Otherwise, the bricks easily popped out and the mold washed up easily. The second mold we tested was the blue tray which consists of the smallest mini-figures. We decided to try making mini-figure ice cubes. I love how these guys turned out! We plan to have yellow cups with mini-figure faces drawn on, and these guys will be perfect to keep drinks cold. In the upcoming days we will be testing the rest of the molds with melted crayons, a soap mixture, and just playing with the molds with play-doh and cloud sand for fine-motor activities. Coming Up Next: Lego Invitations
The Building Brick Birthday Bash Series and further posts will be live later today. We are under tornado warnings, hail, and severe thunderstorm warnings right now so I'm powering done to avoid frying my computer. Be back soon! :)
Review Velocity Toys #VThunder Off Road RC Truck
In The Box: RC Truck, Rechargeable 6v 700mAh truck battery, 9V remote battery, remote control, remote control antennae, and AC adapter (charger). The packaging is excellent. The truck is very secured in the Styrofoam, so you don’t have to deal with any twist ties or cable ties during unpacking. The box and design is very nice, makes it great for gifting. Out Of The Box: The truck’s battery comes partially charged, which allows the truck to run right away for about an hour before needing to be fully charged. A full charge took us around four hours. ** If you are gifting this truck, I highly recommend opening the box and charging the battery fully and then repacking it into the box. This is a really fun RC truck and that first hour on the partial charge goes fast! Save some tears on Christmas morning by having a fully charged truck. To Charge: Unscrew the truck’s battery compartment and turn the dial lock in order to remove the truck’s battery pack. Disconnect the battery pack from the truck and plug the pack into the provided AC adapter. The AC adapter light remains on until it is fully charged, at which point the light dims and turns off. Remote Control Operation: The left lever moves the truck forward or backwards. The right lever turns the wheels left or the right. You do have to keep the steering lever pushed left or right while driving if you are trying to turn corners. That took some getting used to. The remote has an on/off switch to preserve battery life. Please note that the remote’s on/off switch does not turn the truck off. The remote has a start button, which makes the truck rumble, shake and produce an “engine turning over” sound effect. After a minute or two of no movement/signal the truck goes into a hibernation mode and you simply press “start” on the remote to get it going again. The music button plays three songs through the truck's "speakers". Press the music button one more time to turn the music off. As you press the left side lever to drive the truck in reverse, the truck makes a beeping sound. My kids’ favorite part are the lights under the truck, they are bright enough to be seen during the day, but especially makes for great fun in the evening! Pros: - Excellent packaging - Drives great on various terrain (we have a hilly, uneven backyard and the truck performed great) - Long run time on fully charged battery - Fast & Durable - Lightweight Body Shell - Features lights under the wheels and three music modes - Drives the same speed in forward or reverse Cons: - "Colors May Vary" means you don't know which color combination you'll receive. There are red, black, blue and green/purple color combinations. - No physical instruction manual. However, there is an illustrated guide on the bottom of the box for battery installation and operating the remote control. Performance: Since the truck is lightweight it drives really fast on a full battery. It makes sharp turns as well. Since it’s lightweight, has a wide frame, and large tires the truck doesn’t tip over. The truck has the same power driving forward and in reverse, which is ideal when needing to free the truck, if it becomes stuck, or trapped in other situations. We have an uneven yard with a combination of grass, mulch, river rock, and flagstone. So far the truck has been able to handle it all. Between the oversized tires, functioning shock absorbers, and the lightweight body, it has lived up to the “off-road” name, in our experience. Under the truck there is an alignment dial should you need to adjust it more left or right per specific terrain or for other reasons. Appearance: The truck is 8” tall, 13” long, and 9” wide. The wheels are 3.5” tall and 2” wide. We received the red color combination and its shell is very vibrantly detailed. Although the truck’s top is just a shell, I was surprised at how sturdy it actually is. The top doesn’t dent in at all, and when I pull up on the sides of the shell, it instantly retains its original shape. I love the lights underneath, but wish that the front headlights would like up as well. For this price, I think this is a great RC truck. I did receive this in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. All opinions are my own.
This is such a great kitchen set! All items included are very high quality. The spatula is a comfortable and thick, non-stick material. The handle is rounded to be more ergonomic. The tongs match the reds in the set (my kitchen's color theme!) and feature a lock on the bottom to keep them shut during storage. The meat claw shredders and very sharp and very effective! I shredded pulled pork with very little effort!
I tested the silicon glvoes on a glass casserole dish, a pizza stone, and dark cookie sheet all at 475-degrees and couldn't feel a thing. These gloves are also very versatile. I've used them when carrying upstairs a bunch of frozen food from our deep freeze and couldn't feel a thing! I've even used them to pull hard boiled eggs directly out of the water. The heat resistance of the gloves even makes them a great trivet to protect counters and tables. They can be easily washed, which is a big selling factor to me since my old cloth mitts would get dirty so often and need to go in the washer and dryer. Now I can easily rinse with soap and water and be ready to use again. They truly are one-sized fits all. They easily slid on and off my hands, in addition to my husbands large hands. Even my mother-I'm-laws tiny hands had no issues handling dishes while wearing the gloves. The material is thinner than I anticipated--which did make me a little nervous the first time I tried them on a hot pan, but the thickness (or lack thereof) doesn't affect the heat resistance. There are little raised hearts all over the gloves, which help them the grip dishes. I did receive these in exchange for an honest and unbiased review, all opinions are my own. Next week will launch the beginning of a 5-part series on "Building Brick Birthday Bash". My oldest is turning 5 years old at the end of the month and he has only had a first birthday party, so this will be his first party that he can remember. With our limited budget, I plan to round-up DIY party ideas all over the web, Pinterest, Instagram, and as far all social networking can see.
Each day will feature a different aspect of the party planning. If there is a particular aspect of the party you'd like to see featured, shoot me a message! The Aquagenix Extra-Large Slimline Rainfall Shower Head really upgraded the look of our guest bathroom. The sleek, 5-inch wide shower head adds a luxury and spa-like feel to our bathroom.
The head itself is actually chromed plated ABS, however unless you are holding it you would never know it’s not made of metal. (ABS is what LEGO’s are made of—so you know it’s a high quality material!) The overhead bracket is also chrome plated and features adjustable angles for accommodating various heights. The 5’ long hose is very flexible and since it is stainless steel it is extremely durable. The five settings offer something for everyone’s preference in our house, two high pressure settings: ‘Power Rain’, ‘Pulsating Massage’, and three rainfall settings: ‘Hydro Mist’, ‘Rain/Mist’ and ‘Rain/Massage’. Installation was a breeze since no tools were required. I did use the included tape just to insure I wouldn’t have any leakage. If you want a true rainfall experience with this shower head I would recommend getting an extended shower arm for your wall. Disclosure: I received one or more of the products mentioned above in exchange for review from Giveaway Service website. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Reference ID: pm3055aa1479ce5d7a9a3c6061cfc87f13 |
