We had an amazing time visiting Art Works inside the Joslyn Art Museum. The endless possibilities for creativity in the space is mind-blowing! They cover numerous types of art to a creative station explaining cultural and modern art trends. By far, our favorite part of Art Works were the virtual canvases called "Freddie's Techno-Canvas", one on the wall and the other on the floor. My kids couldn't get enough. They have the ability to choose various brushes, paint, canvas type and more. On the floor you could even pour a virtual bucket of paint all over the canvas. When finished you can email your creations to yourself. Audrey's Spectrum Sculpture allows kids to build a sculpture from the ground up. As the colorful transparent forms took shape along the lighted column, it reminded us of the large Chihuly blown glass exhibit inside the Josyln's atrium. Other areas to enjoy are a giant abacus for pattern making, a cozy lit nook filled with books and games, a portrait sketching area, various hands-on building manipulatives, stop frame video center, and much more! Best of all, it's free! Admission to Joslyn's permanent collection and Art Works are both free for visitors. (Additional cost for the traveling and special exhibits). For parents of young kids, pair a visit to Art Works with one of Joslyn's Stroller Tours and you're family will have been immersed in a full morning of art & culture... And FUN!
